About me…
Hi, I’m Amy. I’m a queer, feminist counsellor who works from an anti-oppressive and trauma-informed lens and I believe therapy should feel like a conversation with someone who really gets it, not a cold clinical interview.
If you’re feeling anxious, overwhelmed, stuck in old patterns, navigating a big life transition, or trying to figure out who you are (or who you want to be), you’re in the right place. You don’t need to have everything neatly sorted before you show up here, we can take our time figuring that out together!
I’ve been a social worker for almost 25 years in community mental health and hospital settings, working with teens, adults, and older adults. I’ve heard a lot of stories, and I’ve seen a lot of strength. My approach is warm, collaborative, and down-to-earth. I show up with empathy, curiosity, honesty, and the occasional well-timed joke when the moment calls for it.
I help people work through:
Anxiety, burnout, and that “why am I like this?” spiraling
Depression and emotional overload
Relationship struggles + attachment dynamics
Self-worth and confidence rebuilding
Life transitions (divorce, career shifts, identity changes, new chapters)
2SLGBTQ+ identity, coming out, and belonging
Caregiver stress and compassion fatigue
Boundary-setting and people-pleasing
Healing after confusing or emotionally harmful relationships
My perspective is grounded in Emotion Focused Therapy, feminist theory, and anti-oppression values. I believe our stories are shaped by the systems we live in and once we understand those forces, it becomes a lot easier to stop blaming ourselves, get unstuck, and make meaningful changes.
Therapy with me is gentle, collaborative, honest, and at times unexpectedly funny. (Humor is allowed. So is swearing. So is crying. Often all three in the same session.)
If you’re looking for a therapist who is warm, grounded, queer-affirming, and not afraid to go deep while still keeping things real… I’d love to meet you. We’ll go at your pace, make sense of what feels heavy, and work together to build the life you actually want, not the one you’ve been told you “should” live.
You don’t have to navigate this alone.
Reach out when you’re ready. I’m here.
